Welcome back to our monthly Open Studio! We are picking up where we left off when we canceled Open Studio in March 2020 due to the pandemic. Come shop TUTUVI by Colleen Kimura and art-wear by fine artist Margaret Realica. Meet these incredible women who inspire us and are grateful to call friends. We will continue to enforce masking indoors and while in close proximity to one another, please kokua.

It's been quite a year but we gratefully survived! So we are having a virtual party where you can dress in your holiday best and mingle with friends, old and new. Make yourself a fancy beverage, put on a fun outfit, and party from the comfort of your own place. We have invited a few friends to host their own 'rooms' where you can do some art, get cat cuddles, visit a jewelry designer's beautiful new atélier, and even watch a ceramic studio in action!

Six years ago when I launched my first collection I participated in a group pop-up event and met Colleen Kimura. She had a shop called TUTUVI SITOA on King St where she hosted the week-long show, just before she had to vacate because the new building owner wanted to renovate. From the moment I saw her beautiful prints, colors and tones in combinations like I had never seen, I knew that I wanted to work with her someday.

Colleen is an inspiration for me in terms of her persistence, integrity, and longevity. For over 30 years she has been creating and expanding her metier on her own terms, at her own pace. 

I'm honored and excited to launch RUMI MURAKAMI + TUTUVI, a capsule collection of five looks. Join us at the Hawaii State Art Museum as we have a conversation about the process, moderated by Noe Tanigawa, and fashion presentation of the designs. 

Refreshments will be served in the 2nd floor main entrance at 5:30p. The collaboration pieces will be available for purchase following the show.

One of my favorite things about running my design business is the one on one time I get with clients. Did you know that my design studio lives within the fischake  showroom + gallery?

Beginning in November, please join me for a monthly Open Studio day. View and shop the latest collection, get personal styling and fit advice, or take advantage of our cut-to-order services. Cut-to-order means you get to pick the style and choose fabric that may not be available off-the-rack. You can customize the fit too! All for an additional $20 per item.

Each month I’ll be inviting other makers/brands to join me. Discover new designers, artists, and products that I love and support.

Light refreshments and bubbles will be served. Parking in front of fishcake or at the old Ward Warehouse lot.

...Said the white rabbit to Alice. Join Alice and the Queen of Hearts for this special event happening on Mother's Day! Nestled in the lush hills of Kahalu`u, this private garden estate is the scene for our next presentation and sale. 

Guests will be seated among the flora and fauna cultivated by the founding resident and artist Hiroshi Tagami. High tea will be served as models stroll through wearing looks from our collection as well as one-of-a-kind pieces from Vested Interest.

The looks will be available for purchase at the event. Designers Rumi Murakami and Elizabeth Kent will be on hand to assist.

Join us this Friday as we take flight along with fellow designer Matt Bruening. We will premier our Fall/Winter 2018 collection inspired by the ubiquitous material "paper." Silhouettes are angular and two dimensional. Styles start as a singular length of fabric then get folded, wrapped, draped.

For Matt it was all about escapism and altered states of mind. His Resort 2019 collection titled "Anywhere But Here" sends the wearer on a psychedelic journey using volume, color and pattern.

Both brands will be carried in the HiSAM x MORI Gallery Shop throughout the month of November.

The theme for our FW 2017 collection answers the question "what does Fall in Hawaii look like?". Inspired by, and in collaboration with, the graphic artwork of Hawaii eco artist and filmmaker Laurie Sumiye, we envision the lush landscapes, wide vistas and thriving farming communities of the North East coastline of Hawai`i Island. 

Our presentation takes place at our "home" within Fishcake's main location in Kaka`ako. Doors open at 5:30, show at 6:30pm, pop-up shop including local woodworker and designer Joseph Pecktal of Bevel Hawaii to follow show. Bubbles and light refreshments will be served.

Every time you drive past the giant, pink, winged pig in front of the old Sports Authority you tell yourself "I'll definitely check it out next weekend". If you've been meaning to get to the exhibit, this is your last chance! The Honolulu Biennial will hold a closing event filled with art, entertainment and food  this Saturday evening. Earlier in the day from 12-3PM the MORI pop-up inside the venue will feature local artists and designers including Amber Chesebro of Salty Girl, Emiko Miyazawa of M33M's and Rumi Murakami! Stop in and say hello, see the extraordinary contemporary art installations, and shop our Spring/Summer 2017 collection. It's a great opportunity to meet the designers, ask questions and give feedback. 

We're excited to announce Rumi Murakami's first solo collection presentation! Due to popular demand, we've even added a few pieces for the guys!! The show starts at 7:30PM but come early and see what's new during this brand new monthly event.
