OUR NEW NORMAL
Hello out there!

As we all struggle to find a new normal, I wanted to share some thoughts and give an update about how we are managing. To be honest my initial reaction has been to curl up like a pangolin and hide until it was safe to unfurl. It’s taken me some time to find my bearings but with the encouragement of colleagues, friends, and family, I’m formulating next steps and finding ways to creatively continue to serve our community. There is no manual on how to run a small business in a pandemic!
Face Masks
Almost immediately there was a lot of activity around mask-making as a way to keep each other safe and hopefully slow the spread of covid-19. On Mindfulness
Our response to the current state of affairs has altered our everyday movements, habits, routines, and maybe even challenged some of our personal relationships. Some ways I’ve been working to maintain balance have been; zoom yoga session with one of my favorite local instructors Brenda Kwon, I came across this article about grief and found it comforting, taking the first hour of each morning to abstain from the news and screens, making sure to seek out things that make me laugh.

New for RM
One thing we have been doing is working on getting our website updated. If it’s been awhile since you’ve visited our shop, please take a look. Our UMAMI collaboration collection with print artist Colleen Kimura of Tutuvi has breathed new life into some of our designs. The word ‘joy’ comes to mind when I look at the collection. And who among us couldn’t use a little joy right now?
The other project I’m working on is a ‘cut and bundled’ item for you to construct yourself. We will start with the DAYNA top and our Tailor’s Pincushion. Each item is pre-cut from RM fabrics and include all trims and labels. All you need is thread and sewing machine. This project is just getting underway so stay tuned for more details about how to order as well as sewing tutorial videos.
